In 2022, Ohio’s private employers reported over 80,000 non-fatal workplace injury and illness claims. This annual data also suggested that the increase from 2021 for these types of claims was only nominal. In Ohio, compensation is available from the Workers’ Compensation Bureau for work-related injuries and illnesses. Below is a brief overview on the types of work-related injuries and occupational diseases that are compensable under Ohio’s laws. Please note there are exceptions that apply to these types of claims and for this reason, we always recommend you consult with a work injury attorney for legal assistance if you’re about to embark on filing a workers’ compensation claim.

Common Types of Work-Related Injuries in Ohio

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is a great resource for employees if you’re looking for more information on work-related injuries and prevention.

With some exceptions applying, here is a general list of compensable work-related injuries:

  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Physical injuries
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Repetitive stress injuries
  • Over exertion injuries
  • Burns
  • And more

While this list is not exhaustive, if you have sustained injuries at work due to a work-related incident, we recommend you consult with a work accident attorney as soon as possible. A work injury attorney can help you navigate the complexities of these types of claims and help you get the compensation you deserve.
